Arabelle unlocked her front door. Yvette and Lea followed her inside the apartment. “How nice.” Paintings, paper art, and plants welcome any visitors. Hanging bookshelves completed Arabelle’s wall decoration.

“Thanks. Somehow, I expected you to say ‘just like Paul’s,’” stated Arabelle.

Lea crumbled up her forehead. “Why is that?”

“Well, after we both made some money, Paul was looking to furnish his home. He was tired of living like a poor college student. He researched and found a couple sales and deals where a second sofa, bed, and tables would cost half, or got a percentage off. He sold it in a way to me so we both could furnish our places, pool together the money, and on average, spend less instead of each full price.”

“Back then, the reasoning sounded good. Even to me,” Yvette commented.

“Oh,” Lea exhaled. “I’ve never been to Paul’s condo.”

“No way. So, he has something to hide,” Yvette remarked.

“I guess me,” Arabelle chimed in.

“Do you have something to eat? I’m craving something sweet,” asked Yvette.

“How about chocolate cake? I still have some frozen,” Arabelle offered.

“Yes, thanks,” said Yvette.

Arabelle opened the fridge door and placed her cell phone on a rack to retrieve a juice bottle. She closed the door and opened the freezer, fishing half a chocolate cake out. Arabelle sliced the cake and brought three plates into the living room.

“That looks good. Did you make it yourself?” Lea inquired.

“Yes,” Arabelle answered proudly.

“It’s good,” Yvette agreed.

“Thanks. I am pretty good at cooking as long as the instructions are written on the package,” Arabelle laughed.

“Okay, ladies. Show me what you’ve got! I have to leave soon, but I don’t want to miss this,” Yvette pushed.

Arabelle pulled out skirts, trousers, dresses, scarves, shoes, bags, and jewelry. “Why don’t you put something of mine on, and I’ll wash your dress and scarf and wear it tomorrow.” Lea nodded. She chose a black dress from Arabelle’s closet and changed in the bathroom.

“David just texted me that Paul and his brother Michael are coming over,” Yvette summarized a text on her phone.

Arabelle stared at Lea. “You know what?” Arabelle began the moment Lea rejoined them. “We can check out Paul’s apartment tonight and leave your scarf there. What do you think?” proposed Arabelle.

“I’m not sure.”

“We can walk Yvette home, and you can decide if you want to go home yourself or check out Paul’s apartment with me.” Arabelle swung a key in the air.
